INAUGURAL RECIPIENT Kate Stanley Brennan announced on 1 March 2022.
In accepting the award she said "I am deeply honoured to be the first recipient of The Emma O'Kane Bursary and I am excited to begin this journey of exploration. I hope to draw on the wonderful visual resources provided and work with mentors who have worked closely with Emma, to elevate my physical work, and push the boundaries of my practice beyond the limits of my imagination.”
ABOUT
Kate is an award winning performer and creative from Dublin. She wrote and performed her show WALK FOR ME as
part of the ShowInABag in Fringe Fest 2018 and Project Arts Centre In 2019. In 2020 she set up “Deadly Films” and coproduced the short fIlm CHERRY with CopperAlley Productions (Official Selection Galway Film Fleadh 2021; London Irish Film Festival 2021; Chicago Irish FF; Poppy Jasper FF, California ) which she wrote and directed along with two
MissKate music videos “In The Place” (VR 360 experience) and “GET ME” due for release in Jan. She is in preproduction
for Screen Ireland's “Actor as Creator” - a short flm she will produce this year.

Music
Kate makes music under the name “MissKate”. She has collaborated with producers including MathMan, Bobofunk,
Hystereo and Daithi and performed at festivals including mainstage at Groove Festival, Electric Picnic, BeatYard, Cork
Jazz Festival, PRIDE Block Party and Castlepalooza. She directed her last three music videos for singles, TOOK THE
LIFE, GET ME and a collaboration with Lux Alma IN THE PLACE released in October 2021. Previous releases include
WALK FOR ME (EP Jan 2019 written by Kate and produced by MathMan), Mkx: A Collection of Remixes (EP, 2015) and
“MissKate and the Higher State” (EP 2014) and YOU COME BACK (single, video Likeminded Productions).
